AgriGater is not a record keeping tool. This farm management software does not align budgets with actuals, require receipts, taxation records or invoice numbers. What does AgriGater3 do?
AgriGater requires users to enter data relating to their projected farm management operations, inputs, assets, liabilities and overheads. AgriGater uses this farm plan, and together with the double entry accounting system, generates a full set of "future records".
These "future records", refered to as projections, are used to analyse the future position of the business, which allows farmers to make adjustments to manage their risk more effectively. Projections include enterprise gross margins, commodity gross margins, cash flow, profit and loss, owners' equity, benchmarking, water use analysis, plus more. The farm management software also features agistment management, amortized loans, salvage values for plant and pre-season bulk commodity purchases.
AgriGater can also be used for partial budgets. Instead of entering the assets and liabilities for an entire farming business, a livestock enterprise, a crop or water trading details can be entered to forecast the financial outcome.
AgriGater allows for any farming system, including those with irrigation. The stock and crop types are not specific allowing for farmers to grow alpaccas, crocodiles, tobacco, herbs and so forth. The only farming enterprise that AgriGater cannot be used for is dairying.

What does "3" mean?
The suffix "3" on AgriGater3 is an abbreviation for version 3.0. The initial software development commenced in 2005, and AgriGater Version 3.0 was released in June 2010. Version 3.0 is the product of extensive consultation with industry experts and research in decision support tools, together with error removal and testing.

How much does AgriGater3 cost?
The AgriGater farm business software is proudly provided for free by the Department of Primary Industries Victoria, to encourage farmers, farm managers, agronomists, rural lenders, accountants and family to share in the conversation of farm business management.
AgriGater is not restricted to Victorian residents only. The Victorian DPI welcome and encourage any persons interested in improving agricultural productivity, or using farm business software, to download the program.
